We have recently had an installation survey completed for the works, and the surveyor advised that, although the proposed flue position is behind the principal elevation of the property and is understood to fall under permitted development, it would be courteous to contact Stevenage Borough Council to check whether there are any planning or Building Control considerations we should be aware of before the installation goes ahead. The proposed installation is as follows: The appliance will be installed in the living room and will be fitted by a HETAS-registered installer through Pure Stoves and Fireplaces of Hitchin. The stove proposed is an OER 8 multi-fuel stove, fitted with reducing bricks to bring the output down to 5kW. The stove is 82% efficient, DEFRA approved, and EcoDesign compliant. The flue system will be a twin-wall flue, exiting through the single-storey roof behind the principal elevation line of the property, and extending upwards to reach the required height in line with the roof ridge, as shown in the attached image. The installer has advised that the installation will be carried out in accordance with Building Regulations Part J, and that the works will be notified/certified through the appropriate HETAS process. Before we proceed, could you please confirm whether there are any additional considerations or notifications required from either the Planning or Building Control teams?
